Nokia X6 Comes With Music Phone Review

11 March, 2010

The new Nokia X6 is a must-have for anyone who travels light, be it a holiday overseas or commuting to work.  Besides its basic function as a phone, it could take the place of a standard point-and-shoot camera with its in-built 5 Megapixel Camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash.  Lost your directions?  Tap on its in-built Assisted GPS and Nokia Maps to figure out where you are.

Bored during long bus/train/plane rides?  Have fun with Nokia X6’s interactive games which are downloadable from the Nokia Ovi Store.  Perhaps the best part about this phone is it being the most powerful entertainment device to date combining 32GB of on-board memory with access to the world’s music via Nokia’s all-you-can-eat-music offer, Comes With Music.  The Nokia X6 is essentially a camera, GPS, portable game console and MP3 player all combined into a slim (as thin as a pen) and lightweight (122 grammes) phone!

The X6 is the first Nokia phone to feature a capacitive touch screen, as opposed to the less responsive resistive displays in earlier models, and this makes the 3.2-inch 640×360 resolution screen of the X6 much more accurate in interpreting touch screen requests.  This is particularly noticeable during text messaging or typing anything else on the virtual keyboard.  You can choose between an Alpha Numeric Keypad or Full/Mini QWERTY Keyboard by positioning the phone vertically or horizontally.

The Nokia X6 is all about entertainment.  You can enjoy unlimited access to millions of tracks direct to the phone or via the Nokia Music for PC client where you can store 11,000 tracks on the device itself.  You can also be your own Playlist DJ by create playlists of your music on the phone – based on moods or based on a preselected song.  Besides playing MP3, it also functions as a FM radio.

To support its status as an ultimate music machine, the Nokia X6 comes with accessories such as the Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headset and even a stylish Comes With Music guitar pin.

The registration process for your free one-year subscription at the Nokia Music Store is quick and fuss-free.  All you have to do is provide your PIN (found in the box) and preferred account ID and password and you are ready to start downloading the songs available in the store.  The songs are regularly updated and you will be able to browse through the albums – be it your favorite artistes or just the top 10 chart songs.

Nokia X6’s 5 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics is not just strong in its hardware but also its supporting software.  As seen in the video below, its accompanying software offers many customization options from exposure, color mode – all necessary for a budding photographer/videographer to produce the best picture or video possible.  If you like to take snapshots of yourself, the secondary camera is definitely good news for you!  🙂  In this video, you will also hear the solid sound system of the phone (playing Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” in the background)

The Nokia X6 comes pre-installed with three games – Spore from EA, DJ Mix Tour and Asphalt 4 from Gameloft.  To supplement your gaming needs, you can download numerous premium games and applications through the Ovi Store, and store them along with videos, photos and music on the cavernous 32GB of onboard storage.

Besides the above functions, the Nokia X6 is also a complete social entertainment centre.  Some of its exciting features as a social networking tool include:

  • Contacts bar brings 20 of your friends and virtual communities directly on your home screen such as Facebook;
  • Experience bite-size-entertainment with Twitter by following your favorite blogs and celeb gossip via Gravity;
  • Be in touch with Ovi Contacts, You can chat, share your status, location and which song you are currently listening to;
  • Create your own social RSS feeds with 20 friends on homescreen.

    Nice… the future of technology for something that will surprise us all and the least thing that we can do is embrace it and enjoy it. Anyway, Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

    can’t. It’s small enough and the screen is pretty good, also battery life is great compared again to iPhone. You can use skype over 3G and do wireless tethering with Joikuspot app. I love my iPhone but I also love this X6.
