Sentosa 4D Magix and Cineblast Desperados Shootout Experience15 December, 2009
We have all heard of 3-Dimensional (3-D) theatre, with most cinemas offering 3-D versions of animation-based movies such as The Christmas Carol, Avatar. However, have you heard of 4-Dimensional (4-D)? It’s not the Singapore Pools 4-D lottery but an additional sensory experience on top of the 3-D experience. Read on for more info on this 4-D experience and how to win a pair of tickets to Sentosa’s Cineblast Desperados.
Now you can experience 4-D in Sentosa 4D Magix – Southeast Asia’s First 4-Dimensional Theatre. Together with CineBlast – Singapore’s Only Cinema Ride and Desperados – Singapore’s First Interactive Shoot-Out Game, these attractions are located in Singapore’s only high-tech interactive entertainment zone in Sentosa.
To get here, you can take the Sentosa Blue Line or Red Line bus or Sentosa Express (alight at Imbiah station).
Sentosa 4-D Magix: Pirates in 4-D
The Sentosa 4-D Magix: Pirates in 4-D is a 3-time winner of the Asian Attractions Award (Small Attractions Category) and it sure does deliver an amazing show. You will experience first-hand the various obstacles that Captain Lucky and his band of pirates go through on a hilarious 4D treasure hunt.
I will not be saying much on what the movie is about – it’s better to experience it yourself. 🙂 Suffice to say, the movie not only jumps right out of the screen (3-D effects), it also puts you in the thick of action through simulated live effects built in onto your seat (the 4th D). This is the third time that I had watched this same movie with all the accompanying effects and yet the 4-D experience never fails to surprise me each time.
Just a heads-up, expect to get slightly wet (though a change of clothing is not required). 🙂
Sentosa CineBlast: Extreme Log Ride
For this experience, you assume the role of a log being transported around fictitious Himalamazon New Tree Factory. With a 3-D glasses and strapped inside a motion-capsule, you will go on a simulated indoor roller-coaster ride where you could get attacked by crocodiles and have rocks hurled at you.
Do sit tight and hold on as the movement of the motion capsule can get quite vigorous. Don’t unbuckle your seatbelt during the ride – besides the danger of being flung out of the capsule, you will also inconvenience others as the safety mechanism will trip and stop the show.
One of the latest attraction to join this high-tech entertainment arena in Sentosa is Desperados. In this interactive shoot-out game, you assume the role of a deputy sheriff to take down bandits in the Old West. The main challenge is holding onto a galloping mechanical horse while trying to aim at targets on the screen. There are also innocent people on screen which I think you are not supposed to shoot at.
The shoot-out experience lasted less than 10 minutes but it could get tiring on your hands – both in holding down the horse and aiming at your targets. However you are not alone – there are 20 other shooters also trying to take down the bad guys. Don’t slack off as the scores of all the shooters are collated and announced at the end of each stage – you could get labelled as a donkey for having the worst score. 🙂
Sentosa Desperados is having a ‘Golden Hour’ promotion which means you get to save $4 on your tickets to Desperados every weekend in December at 12pm-1pm and 6pm to 7pm.
There is also a Shoot-out Challenge which makes the ride even more competitive and fun! The cowboy/cowgirl with the highest score for that day gets to bring home a basket of prizes.
