Another part of the Splendid China miniature park is the Chinese Folk Village (深圳中国民俗文化村) where the daily life and architecture of China’s 56 ethnic groups are showcased.  Unlike the Splendid China where the buildings are shrinked down by a scale of 1:15, the buildings here are the same size as they would be at the actual tribal villages.

You will also be able to buy some handicrafts or try their local snacks at each of the 24 unique villages.  The staff are also dressed in character and would perform daily chores e.g. weaving, knitting of unique tribal handicrafts.  If you have any questions on their culture, they are also knowledgeable enough to help you with them.

Occasionally, the China Folk Culture Village will feature cultural festivals such as the Water Splashing Festival of the Dai, the Torch Festival of the Yi and the Inner Mongolia Grassland Cultural Festival.

For just about S$8, you get to play dress up and get photographed as one of the characters from the history of China or one of the Chinese ethnic groups.  We chose the best and most popular costume – the Emperor and Empress costume.  It was great fun and the staff were very helpful and friendly.  The service was fast and efficient – the entire process (including the final photo products) took less than 20 minutes.
