Shenzhen Windows of the World (Eiffel Tower and Merlion in China?)
28 October, 2009Located just one metro stop away (at Shijiezhichuang Station on Line 1) from Splendid China lies another amazing theme park – Windows of the World (世界之窗). As the name suggests, this park showcases buildings and marvels from around the world; a form of Splendid China with bigger buildings outside China. Entrance fee cost 120 Yuan.
Windows of the World has about 130 reproductions of some of the most famous tourist attractions in the world squeezed into 48 hectares of the theme park. All of these buildings are divided into sectors by the continents they are located at e.g. you will find Taj Mahal, Merlion, Angkor Wat all within steps of each other in Asia. Likewise for Buckingham Palace, Versailles Palace in Europe.

Check out Tower Bridge – one of the icons we visited when we were in London. Other prominent landmarks include the Leaning Tower of Pisa, windmills from Holland and even Little Mermaid from Denmark (not in picture).
The above pictures are just snippets of what you can expect from Windows of the World – there are much much more e.g. Pyramids of Giza, New York skyline and even a replica Niagara Falls (you can still get quite wet standing near it!). There is even a “Alps Indoor Skiing” arena where you can do skiiing, ice-skating or snow-tubing. The evening is capped off by a fireworks and lights performance. You will also be able to enjoy musical performances of Chinese history at the main stage near the entrance in the evening.
It’s quite amazing that in about a day – you will be able to see all of the world’s landmarks and architecture by visiting Splendid China and China Folk Culture Village and Windows of the World.
