Spring Weekend at Hong Kong Disneyland
18 March, 2010Upcoming on PassportChop’s travel plans is a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland for a short weekend getaway in the Magical Kingdom. This will be my (ZQ) first visit to a Disneyland and having heard all about the magic and fun from TY (who had been to both Tokyo and USA Disneyland), I am all prepared mentally and thoroughly excited for this magical weekend with my favorite Disney characters e.g. Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck!
This, being her 3rd trip to Disneyland, albeit in a different country, TY would be keen in comparing how different each of these Disneyland are customised to the host country it was based in – perhaps she could even write a thesis paper on it :-p; all that’s left is the Disneyland in Paris to complete her tour round the Disneylands of the world. Whether being stalked by the Beast of the Beauty and the Beast fame or driving around in a Flintstones-era car crowded with fierce-looking beavers in Tokyo Disneyland or …
… getting friendly with Donald Duck and trying to be the next ‘King Arthur’ by extracting the Excalibur sword in US Disneyland, TY had seen it all – now to see what exciting activities and programmes that Hong Kong Disneyland had to offer! 🙂
Hong Kong Disneyland consists of four classic themed lands, which are Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. It also features both a daytime parade “Disney on Parade” and “Disney in the Stars”, a fireworks show, in the evening. The “Disney on Parade” is a day-time parade which features 9 floats with famous Disney characters including Mickey and Friends, Chip ‘n’ Dale, Disney Princesses, Alice, Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Jessie.
We will be looking forward especially to the “Disney in the Stars“. This is a nightly fireworks programme based on a similar format used in the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks at other Disney theme parks where fireworks and pyrotechnics are co-ordinated to orchestrated classic Disney music such as “A Whole New World”. On top of this exciting performance, as a VIP in the Star Fireworks Dinner programme, we will be treated to a pre-show mocktail and a photo moment with 2 Disney Characters, followed by a viewing of the fireworks spectacular at the VIP viewing area and then ending off our evening with a scrumptious full course Chinese Dinner!
Check back here for more updates of our trip to Hong Kong Disneyland – the wonderful Fantasia room in Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and yummy lunch and dinner at the Mickey Mouse-themed restaurants. 🙂
