The Kukup Hello Leisure Resort is surprisingly a huge 2-storey terrace house-lookalike building with a huge outdoor multi-purpose wooden platform. Our group occupied the entire 1st floor – 3 rooms and a big living room. The chalet owners stayed at the upper floor – very convenient in case we need any necessities or require an early dinner.
The outdoor wooden platform is more than just a dining area – at night, it is used as a platform to launch mini-fireworks. This space is shared though, don’t be surprised if you see strangers walking about or launching their fireworks here.
Each room can sleep up to 8 adults and this is accomplished by a very huge connected double decker bed with comfortable mattresses and pillows. Every room is air-conditioned – a welcome relief from the hot weather outside.
The toilet facilities are surprisingly modern – a sit-down toilet bowl! We expected just a hole where your waste goes straight down to the river under the house. I didn’t see any sewage pipes in Kukup so i guess this toilet works the same way except with a better external presentation. There is clean piped water to the toilets but no heater so be prepared for cold showers.

No Internet (wired/wireless) is available here – can’t do a live blog update here. However there are other things you can do here e.g. card games, mahjong, KTV which I will address in the next post.

If you forgot to bring things like slippers and just want to grab some snacks or chewing gum, there is a provision shop, at the entrance to the Kukup fishing village, which sells almost anything.

If you want to watch some movies, there is a DVD shop just outside the village – do note that these are mostly pirated DVDs. For “fashionable” Taiwan clothes (as claimed by the shop), you can also check out this fashion retail shop.
