Eating Magnum Ice-Cream on Bus Legally and … for Free!

There were quite some buzz recently on SMRT’s strict enforcement of its no eating/drinking policies on its trains and buses via the serving of Notification of Offence slips charging them fines ranging from $30 to $500 (more info on this at the bottom of this post) … but not on this bus we took today.

We were able to:

• Enjoy a FREE ride on a SBS bus from Suntec Convention Centre to Dhoby Ghaut MRT station
• Get entertained by mask-clad Ministry of Pleasure staff who were dressed in Renaissance era clothes
• Receive FREE Magnum Ice-cream (worth $3.90) upon alighting

What’s happening?  Actually this treat is part of Magnum’s new Pleasure Campaign where commuters can enjoy a free ride and an ice-cream just on a Magnum-themed bus.  This bus departs from Tangs, heads down Heeren, Plaza Singapura, Raffles City and Suntec City, then loops back.  You can board or alight the bus at any bus-stop along this route.

This free ice-cream + ride campaign is available only this weekend (15 – 16 August 09) from noon to 8pm.  When we took the bus at 5pm, its ice-cream supply had ran out and it had to stop for a final refill (i.e. no more refills when this supply had run out) at a bus stop near City Hall MRT.  So if you really really want the free ice-cream, you might want to take the bus earlier.

We got an Ecuador Dark and Golden Hazelnut (new flavor!) Magnum ice-cream.  Very unique taste and yummy!
