Unboxing the National Day Parade 2011 Fun Pack
18 July, 2011Besides exciting performances and beautiful fireworks, attendees of the annual National Day Parade also look forward to the highly sought-after National Day Parade Fun Pack. This year’s Fun Pack had generated quite a controversy, though not about its content but more due to a song about it. Well, enough said about the song and glad that it is officially pulled from the programme.
PassportChop had the opportunity to check out the National Day Parade (NDP) 2011 Combined Rehearsal/National Education (NE) Show last weekend and one of the perks that come from attending it is of course, the Fun Pack. There are lots of videos about unboxing new iPads and iPhones so we thought of adopting the “unboxing” approach to provide you with a peek at what’s inside this year’s NDP 2011 Fun Pack. Check out this video for more info – there are so many things inside the Fun Pack that it took me over 1.5 minutes to fully unpack it!
This year’s funpack takes eco-friendliness to a new level: key interactive items and utility items have been designed with the concepts of “reuse” and “recycle” in mind. In addition, the funpack also included special items that encourage audiences to reflect on the NDP 2011 theme “Majulah! The Singapore Spirit”.
To encourage NDP audiences to reflect on the 2011 NDP theme and what being Singaporean means to them, these were included: “Stories of The Singapore Spirit” is a collection of short stories featuring excerpts from nine winning essays from “The Singapore Spirit” writing competition. In addition, four stories from the National Heritage Board publication “Someone Like You… Titans of Our Time” are also included.
There are over 20 items inside e.g. flag, light stick, wet tissue, Newater, biscuit but no Kopi-O (unless you count the Kopitiam coupon which provided for a one-for-one Kopi-o). Even if you don’t have the chance to get a NDP 2011 Fun Pack, you can still enjoy the discounts available at the coupon booklet through this NDP eCoupon site: http://www.maplingo.com:8080/ndpecouponweb/home.html
For a chance to get one of these funpacks, tell us what does the Singapore Spirit mean to you and the most creative entry will win a pair of NDP Preview tickets (30 July 2011) – you can redeem for the funpack with your NDP ticket stub.

19 July, 2011 at 8:11 amThose are cool funpacks. But I think it’ll be more interesting if there are iPhones, Galaxy, iPad, stuffs like that. Lol. It’ll encourage the people to interact and participate.
