Stewords Riverboat Santa Fe Mexican Buffet Review3 January, 2010
Moored at Marina South Pier, the Stewords Riverboat serves as a floating restaurant where you can feast on American Tex-Mex cuisine or menus inspired by timeless stories from the Bible at the 2 F&B outlets onboard. This boat used to house the now-defunct A&W at Sentosa before being relocated here. This is quite a ulu place – to get here by public transportation, you will have to board bus 402 just outside the Marina Bay MRT station.
For this foodie trip, we tried their American Tex-Mex cuisine at their award-winning casual-dining family restaurant – Santa Fe. “Tex-Mex” is a term used to describe a regional American cuisine that blends food products available in the United States and the culinary creations of Mexican-Americans influenced by the cuisines of Mexico.
Every Sunday, Santa Fe at Stewords Riverboat offers a Tex-Mex Ala Carte buffet at $26.90++ for adults, which is a very good deal considering the variety of Tex-Mex food you get to sample as well their signature dish – the Fajita Grill.
You can see the whole variety of food in the below menu and the ones we tick are highly recommended.
Besides the food item in the above menu, there is also a mini salad and dessert bar which you can help yourselves to the free flow of salad and soup of the day.
The must-try are the Southern Golden Fish which is very crispy and the Santa Fe BBQ Ribs served with BBQ sauce which is so tender and yummy. The servings come in small portions so you could afford some space to try out the other delicious small dishes such as the cheesy Mozzarella sticks – how cheesy is it? -> check out the following picture as we demonstrate the cheesiness within the sticks. 🙂
Another must-try is the Fajita Grill which are slices of grilled chicken or beef, with sauteed onions and bell peppers, served sizzling on a skillet. It comes with 2 flour tortillas and cheese cheddar, sour cream and vegetables from which you can combine to have your own chicken or beef tortillas.
While dining at a floating restaurant is a rather unique experience, however it is not suitable for everyone especially those with motion sickness. Although the boat is not cruising and is moored to the jetty, you will still feel the up-and-down movement of the boat as it moves with the waves. If you feel nauseous during your meal, you can take a short break from the bobbing action by going onto the jetty which isn’t moving as much.
We rate Stewords Riverboat Santa Fe:
- Food (Southern Golden Fish and Fajita Grill absolutely yummy): 4/5
- Ambiance (casual dining setting – however if you suffer from motion-sickness, this might not be the best place for lunch): 3.5/5
- Service (Staff friendly, eager to help, though service could be quite slow if restaurant is crowded): 3/5
- Location (a direct bus ride from the Marina Bay MRT – quite convenient although the intervals between buses can be quite long): 3.5/5
- Value (reasonable pricing for such a variety of food): 3.5/5
