What comes to your mind when I say “Sakae Sushi” – rows of sushi moving around on a conveyor belt? I thought so too until I had the opportunity to dine in the Tatami Room in West Coast Plaza Sakae Sushi branch. You don’t have to sit cross-legged in this Tatami Room – there are slots in the floor for you to put your leg down. Don’t expect to enjoy any bit of privacy as anyone bypassing this outlet could look into the room to see what you are eating and doing.
Besides the usual sushi items, we tried the Beef Sukiyaki ($13.99). You are served a plate of raw beef slices which you can cook in the soup until your preferred taste – raw, medium or well-cooked. Mixed with egg york and vegetables, the beef tasted very good + the soup has a very sweet taste too.
For lovers of squid, the Ika Teriyaki is a must-try. It is served dipped in teriyaki sauce which enhances the sweetness and tenderness of the squid.
The highlight of our meal is the Kiddy Set – Fire Engine ($8.99). There are different Kiddy Sets ranging from Aeroplane, Train, Fire engine and even Hamtaro – each of which serving different dishes. You can only order a Kiddy Set if you have a kid dining with you. The Fire Engine set comes with French Fries, Tonkatsu (Pork Cutlet) and Rice cooked in an Egg-wrapped Tomato. A Yakult with a Fire Engine plate completes the set. This kiddy set is a very innovative idea as it keeps the kid full (quite good servings for a kid) and occupied with the fire engine.
