Savouring Samgyetang Ginseng Chicken Soup with Abalone at Jeju Seogwipo19 April, 2015
Samgyetang Ginseng Chicken Soup 삼계탕 is another must try food in Korea – there are lots of Ginseng Chicken Soup in Seoul but with all the great food here in Jeju e.g. BBQ black pork, Jeju Pork ramen, abalone porridge, we just had to try the Ginseng Chicken Soup here in Jeju as a round-up to our 4 Day 3 Night Jeju trip itinerary.
This ginseng chicken restaurant comes highly recommended by the staff of Feliz Telcon Hotel and it is just a 5 minutes drive away from Feliz Telcon Hotel.

Parking spaces at this restaurant is quite limited – space available for about 3 vehicles. Parking is free here. There are street parking available in the area but it is about a 5 minute walk away (also free). Do note that the roads around the restaurant are quite narrow and traffic is quite heavy around the evenings (when we were there for dinner) so the challenge here is to reverse park or reverse drive out quickly and safely without holding up traffic. There is a hotel opposite this restaurant so expect big tour buses in the area too.
A english menu is available at this restaurant – there are only 4 choices in the english menu:
– Jeonbok Samgyetang – Chicken Ginseng Soup with Abalone: 23,000 KRW
– Hanbang Samgyetang – Chicken Ginseng Soup with Medicinal Herbs: 16,000 KRW
– Tojong Samgyetang – Native Chicken Ginseng Soup: 15,000 KRW
– Ihwa Samgyetang: 13,000 KRW
As per every Korean restaurant, there are a lot of kimchi side dishes provided before the meal itself.
We were also served with complimentary ginseng wine – very very strong alcohol. It is said that this ginseng wine are performance enhancers – the performance being the one in bed – your sexual prowess 🙂
We ordered for ourselves – Jeonbok Samgyetang – Chicken Ginseng Soup with Abalone – to reward ourselves for our hard work exploring Jeju for the past few days. Very delicious! The abalone size is also quite generous. Overall, a very satisfying meal here. It is not just ginseng chicken soup – but also got porridge so it was quite a filling meal.
As usual, the restaurant name is in Korean so I don’t know how to reproduce the name here. The signboard is in the first picture above. The Korean GPS coordinates for this Samgyetang Ginseng Chicken Restaurant (by phone number): 7623319
