Summary:

Good workmanship, Service was fast and efficient (staff was friendly and patient), Location was great (just opposite Platinum Mall).

During our recent visit to Bangkok, we decided to check out Alex’s Fashion at Amari Watergate Hotel to tailor a few custom-made shirts and pants. Alex’s Fashion came highly recommended from a number of Singapore forums e.g. Hardwarezone as well as Flyertalk and other Australian forums. We just had to see how good is it (in terms of workmanship and service) for ourselves.

The shop manager Peter is the son of the founder Alex (namesake of Alex’s Fashion). Alex was one of the first to set up a tailor shop at Amari Watergate Hotel and Peter had been working in this business under his father’s guidance for the past 18 years. Peter is indeed very experienced in this trade – he is able to make good recommendations of what design and fabric is suitable for different body shape or occasions. The shop also boasts a great selection of fabrics and you can customise your inner collars and your cuffs with different designs. There are pictures and sample shirts readily available for you to make a quick decision.

Our personal experience with Alex’s Fashion was a great one – Peter and his staff were very patient in explaining the various design and fabric that we could choose from; the samples really helped us in deciding on the designs we wanted.

We did 3 shirts and 2 pants – the process was simple and quick. Peter discussed with me my requirements for the shirts and pants’ fabric and designs; Peter’s staff took my measurements and we are done in 30 minutes! We came back for a fitting 2 days later – I tried the shirts and pants and fedback on how to adjust them to make the pants more comfortable (this took less than 15 minutes). This is not a hassle since we are doing some shopping at Platinum Mall (just across the road from Amari Watergate hotel). The end-result? – The workmanship is of quite good quality and the shirts and pants are very comfortable!

There were quite a lot of Singaporeans doing their shirts and suits when we were there and this is not surprising considering that there is an Alex’s Fashion promotion for Singaporeans i.e. S$362 (or 8500 Thai baht) for 1 jacket, 2 pants, 4 shirts and 2 ties.

If you just want to do custom-made shirts, you can consider this package:
S$221 (or 5200 Thai baht) for 3 shirts and 2 pants – updated as of 15 May 2013

There are packages for different combination of shirts, pants and jackets. Check in-store for the Singaporean package or download this document for reference -> Alex’s Fashion Bangkok Tailor Price List (updated as of 15 May 2013)

Alex’s Fashion also comes to Singapore regularly to do custom fitting and tailoring – if you like their work, request to be placed on their mailing or Whatsapp list. Alex can be contacted via Viber and ChatOn – they are having some technical difficulties with Whatsapp now.

Do note that there are quite a number of tailor shops in Bangkok that are also called “Alex Fashion” an their websites are also similarly named.

The following are the actual Amari Watergate Hotel Alex’s Fashion website and facebook page:

To reach Alex’s Fashion:
Amari Watergate Hotel – 3rd floor by lift. From the Amari Watergate Hotel lobby, take the escalator to the second floor; once you reach the second floor, you will see a cluster of tailor shops – Alex’s Fashion is on your right (not the first shop).

You can contact Peter of Alex’s Fashion at

The shop is open Monday – Saturday 10 AM – 8 PM, Sunday 11 AM-3 PM.

Hi Zhiqiang & Tingyi,

Tailored suits made by a Bangkok custom tailor is wise choice because you are assured with high quality suit that will definitely fit your experience. Bangkok tailors are well known for producing tailored suits which are highly demand in the market with outfit fashion.

Hi, will like to know if Paul’s Fashion or Alex’s Fashion is better?

Is the discount code for both still valid? :)

In my opinion – what’s most important to me when i tailor clothes is (1) the service provided e.g. whether I can communicate well with the shop owner/tailor and whether he understands my needs; (2) the availability of the fabric, colors, patterns that I want for my clothes.

Both Paul’s Fashion and Alex’s Fashion have been able to do that for me very well. I suggest that you check out both shops and gauge for yourself the level of the service from them and their selection of cloth that can fit your needs – then make a decision based on these points (and any of your own points). Their prices are comparable too – Paul’s Fashion offer stated in my post about them still stands.

Sorry, looks like you have earlier been recomending Paul Fashion and as of December you have been recomending Alex’s Fashions. My friends had clothes made at Alex’s and the staff at Alex’s Fashion’s informed them that you were given free clothes and more $$ to write good about them in your blog. Not very honest Singaporean like leh..

Hi Anthony – what you have heard from the staff is not true – we were NOT given money to write about Alex’s Fashion; you might want to check your sources first before posting. I had given objective reviews on the tailors based on service, workmanship and fabric selection. No promises of good reviews were made.

Anthony, this is very untrue, we do not give anything for free, y dont u try using our services yourself. By the way we already have over 5000 clients from singapore.

I was told by my friends that you got a review, Peter.

It is a worthy recognition for the great work by Alex Fashion after all these years. Service, Price, Workmanship… especially After Sales Service, Fabulous.

See you in BKK on Christmas!

Warm regards

Peter, hope you remember us. We were the group of 4 friends who visited you early January, after you dragged us into your store from the arcade and promised us best quality and price. Despite all my inner inhibitions, we ended up ordering lot of clothing from your store. I can uderstand that you are not too experinced with this work as when we came back during the fitting, all the clothes were either too tight or too loose to have been custom tailored for us. Your staff even mentioned to us that since they were on holiday the day we ordered from you and you being the only one at the store, things went wrong as you have no knowledge about this work. All the same, we were promised new cutting and were remeasured by him and the clothes were then delivered to the reception desk at our hotel. When we arrived late night, we found that the clothes were still very ill fitting and called you up asking you to have someone come over to pick up the clothes for the required adjustments, to which you replied to us that we had to bring them back to the store ourselves as it was not your store policy to repick up the clothes for alterations once they have been delivered.
I must say we were so disgusted with your service that we just got all the clothes back to Singapore and paid so much more to get them adjusted here itself rather then taking them back to your store.
I have to be frank and must add that there is no way I am visiting your store ever again and would always warn my friends against using your services.
Hope this will serve you as a notice to better respect your clients and not take them as fools

Anthony, i dont recall who you are, if possible do u remember the order number, just to confirm that u used our services, or did u put it under different name… since i cant find u on record….even if this is the case…. its a good point u mentioned there, in future i would rather ask my customers to pick the clothes up from the store itself so that they can try and make sure things r right, not only for my store but for all stores.. after all no business is perfect, in my trade u cannot satisfy 100% customers be it any store even Paul’s Fashion i am sure has many problems as they have excess of work, but we are always willing to resolve the problem thats y we visit singapore to not only take orders but to resolve problems who need alteration as well. But like i say tailoring is such a trade where u cannot satisfy 100% customers, thanks for the information though, and if u dont mind can u email me personally [email protected] regarding your telephone number for ur privacy so that i can check under what name did i save the contact and will have it removed in order not to contact you or your friends again since you all are not interested in our services anymore so that i dont waste ur time and mine as well. But if you had paid for the alteration should have emailed, as i give discounts or some compliment clothes depending on how much you paid. Anyways we also are not worried about u not using our services again as there are many who will and who have been happy with us. We have been here since hotel opened day 1 and will continue to be here. Cheers and await ur email if u dont mind.

Seriously?? Personally, I would never be visiting your store ever again and would recomend all my friends who are heading over there to avoid your store. Am surprised that Passport Chop has decided to put you in his blog, guess people can do anything for money.

Sharlyne – instead of a general statement that’s not helping anyone know what’s wrong, it will be more useful if you can let Peter know your issues with your service and see how he can deal with it. I am not paid to write this post and this is not an advertisement. This is just a platform for customers to engage Peter directly on the service he provides.

Shalyne, i have not received any email from you regarding your problem, if there is any problem and you need fixed do let us know as we are heading down to singapore around 2nd or 3rd week May, will help you resolve the problems that you have with the clothes.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your sharing with me this post. I read the comments and will like give a constructive feedback.

I think perdorminately it is very hard to find a quality tailor that is able to deliver CYC standard at $40.00+. I think its impossible.

As a regular and small buyer that buy 2-3 shirts during their trips to Singapore every 3-4 months, I think Mike and Peter have been sincere peeps. I remember during my first two visits, they even replaced my shirts when I didn’t indicated my perference properly from the start because I also dono I have this perference.

I think they are good, sincere and value for $.

Hi Peter

You mentioned that you will be in Singapore around 2nd or 3rd week of May. May I have the details of your location in singapore and the dates you will be here? Thank you.

26 Peter May 18, 2013 at 3:47 pm

Yes, that right and i have emailed you regarding the dates, this trip is just for delivery, fitting and service trip, not taking new orders. New orders will be take in around 2 months time on our next visit which is around end July or early August.

Hi Peter! I will be going bangkok in 2 weeks’ time on 8 June. Me and my friend are thinking of making some clothings from you. However we will be staying for 3 nights only and was wondering will it be sufficient enough for you to make our clothes. Please advice us. Cheers!

Reply

28 Peter May 24, 2013 at 11:25 am

Sure it’s enough. Make sure to visit us on 8th itself as i think it’s Friday as Sunday tailors don’t work. I assume u have our address. See above the site for full address.
