Just Cruising – Living the High Life in the Slow Lane

Why not take your time when everything is free?

Of course, when you go for all inclusive holidays, it’s not the case that everything is free; you’ve still had to pay for the holiday upfront. However, since the price is a basic set rate, regardless of what you decide to eat and drink or how you use the facilities on hand, essentially you’re freed up from having to worry about the cost of anything.

You and your partner, friends and family can eat, drink and be merry till your heart’s content without having to ever lift your wallet. Released from the burden of having to count the cost of entertainment or incidentals, you have the perfect opportunity to live the high life, but on your terms and on your time.

So when they say all inclusive, what exactly does that mean? What are you getting for your money?

Entertainment

Be it on a cruise or resort based, all inclusive holidays will ususally offer a wide range of various types of entertainment as part of your package. This can include theatrical performances, dance events, games nights, live comedy and music performances , plus a whole host of other entertainments suitable for all ages and stages.

There’s nothing quite like settling into your chair for a night’s entertainment knowing that it won’t cost you a penny, not even for the complimentary drink and laid on snacks! That’s the way to enjoy live entertainment.

Food

Mealtimes should generally be a pleasure and a relaxing experience, but when you’re not cooking for yourself when on holiday the anxiety of the bill running rampant can often take the edge off the enjoyment of eating out.

Remove this lingering concern for good when you go in for all inclusive holidays. Feel free to simply sit back and enjoy, without worrying about any post-meal wallet denting. The only tricky choice will be deciding what you fancy, rather than trying to guess what’s the best value for money.

Not only will your mealtimes be hassle free in this regard, but should you feel peckish in between then you won’t have far to go before you’re greeted royally by a variety of vendors who will have a veritable snack smorgasbord waiting for you.

Excursions

Again, the variety and scale of excursions away from your holiday accommodation depends on the type of trip you’ve gone in for. All inclusive cruises will often offer an elaborate array of excursions as the ship docks in many different exciting locales. This gives you and your party the perfect opportunity to get out and explore, usually with transport and guidance previously arranged by the organisers.

For resort-based holidays, many all inclusive operators will provide similar transport arrangements and a guide to show you around nearby tourist attractions or places of interest.

Facilities

Naturally, with all the free food and drink handed to you on a platter, you’re going to want to burn off a little energy or work up an appetite for your next meal. Fortunately, this type of holiday caters for that too.

Having access to gym facilities, tennis courts, swimming pools, sports area and the like without having to fork out for admittance should serve as an additional spur to make the most of what’s on offer.

Of course, after a spot of sporting exertion, there’s nothing quite like slipping into a Jacuzzi and soothing away any aches in the process!

A Little Liquid Refreshment

Whether it’s your favourite tipple that you’re savouring while lounging after a hard day of doing whatever you feel like, or an enticing creation from the cocktail section that you’re experimenting with, a free bar is a rare and unique pleasure.

When the price list is removed and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, conditions are perfect to enjoy a refreshing beverage. Perhaps even try something you’ve always felt like discovering but didn’t feel like shelling out for in case it wasn’t to your taste.

Bartenders working all inclusive bars tend to be experts of their craft, due to the wide variety of requests that they get from their guests. Therefore, if you’re unsure what to try, you can do a lot worse than put yourself in their capable hands!

A Whole Bunch of Extras

Going all inclusive means you’ll be getting showered with a whole bunch of extra little treats and niceties that you wouldn’t have thought of. Clearly, this varies from resort to resort, but like a towel wrapped into the form of a monkey, they’re bound to surprise and delight you – just like what we experienced during our Royal Caribbean Cruise experience.

“There’s nothing quite like settling into your chair for a night’s entertainment knowing that it won’t cost you a penny, not even for the complimentary drink and laid on snacks!” My dear friend…. please note that many times you get what you pay for, and these shows can be very boring, if not sometimes, even lousy. More often than not you get what you pay for.
