Fine Dining Experience Onboard Legend of the Seas31 December, 2009
We had shown you what’s on offer for casual dining at the Windjammer Cafe. If you prefer to be served your food instead of buffet-style self-service, you could consider the classic Romeo and Juliet Restaurant. What’s available at the Windjammer Cafe are usually also available at the Romeo and Juliet Restaurant and food is also free flow at the restaurant – just make multiple orders with the waiter.
We ordered a Fast Fare Breakfast – scrambled eggs with bacon and the Ham and Cheese Omelette served with hash-brown potatoes and toast. The hash-brown potatoes is a must-try – they are the popular restaurant chain Marche Rosti-equivalent. We also tried their blueberry pancakes and French toast served with syrup which did not taste very good – not recommended.
For lunch, there had a selection of food from different cuisines e.g. Japanese – Grilled Chicken Yakitori served with Japanese rice, teriyaki sauce and wakame salad; Western – Fried Chicken Tenders with potato-cucumber salad. The dessert (aptly labelled as “Sweet Endings” in the menu) – Decadent Chocolate Slice is just so sinfully sweet and yummy. 🙂
Do note that there is a dress code and fixed dining timings if you intend to have your dinner at Romeo and Juliet Restaurant. There are 2 dinner seatings – 6.30pm and 8.30pm and you will have to pre-book your preferred timing and seating arrangement or you could end up sitting in a common table for 10+ guests. Royal Caribbean Cruise also offers a My Time Dining programme which allows guest to decide on their preferred timing for dinner on the day itself – anytime between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. Except for Formal Night, attire for dinner is casual – bare feet, shorts and tank tops are not permitted.
There are different 3-course menus each day with food as exotic as Escargots Bourguignonne – Tender snails, drenched in melted garlic-herb butter and baked to perfection (very yummy!) and Chicken Breast with Seasonal Herbs – Grilled breast of chicken perfumed with rosemary and served with assorted vegetables. The desserts were heavenly as well. 🙂
Each table is served by the same Waiter and Assistant Waiter for the entire cruise so you have a familiar face to turn to for advice and recommendations for your dinner. Their service is impeccable, judging by the strict standards we imposed on the Cosafe Restaurant we visited earlier e.g. order of service and how they served food to the table. Our waiter, Alonso is from the Honduras and is very helpful and patient with our orders – Kudos to him for making us feel very comfortable and at home during this cruise. 🙂
