Shopping in Prague Old and New Town2 September, 2009
Prague caters to almost every kind of shopper. If you are into luxury, branded fashion like Louis Vuitton, then the elegant avenue of Parizska is the place for you. It is lined with international designer houses including Dior, Boss and Armani.
In contrast, the winding lanes between the Old Town Square and Charles Bridge are thronged with tacky souvenir shops with their fair share of puppets, Russian dolls and ‘Czech Me Out’ T-shirts (get it? Play of words to ‘Check Me Out’)
Prices for these souvenirs are generally the same between the various souvenir shops along these lanes. If you want cheaper Czech Republic souvenirs, you might have to venture to Prague outskirts e.g. Karlstejn Castle where we practically experience the Great Prague Sale (in terms of souvenirs).
If you are looking for music megastores, big department stores and huge bookshops, you have to visit Wenceslas Square (situated in the Prague New Town area). Do note souvenirs here are sold a bit more expensive than those sold in the Old Town.
