Leadenhall Market – Harry Potter Diagon Alley?

Leadenhall Marketdiagon alley

After our Tower of London visit, we proceeded to Leadenhall Market – the filming site of Harry Potter movies’ shopping street, Diagon Alley.  It doesnt really look like what’s in the movie (see picture on right), perhaps Muggles (human) eye cannot see what’s really going on :-p.

The actual Leadenhall Market looked much more organized and classy with a number of restaurants and luxury item shops e.g. pens and leather goods.  The market is also the site for a city dating programme – Meet in the Market.  See other events that also took place in the Leadenhall Market here.

The market was quite busy, probably because it was a Friday late afternoon where the working class could discuss over beer. There was a mini-bazaar in the middle of the market selling food and all sorts of knick-knacks. There were even shoe-polishing services.
Activities at Leadenhall Market

We settled down at the Market Cafe at the North Entrance to the Leadenhall Market – the price was quite reasonable and the serving quite large – escalope of chicken (the one TY is holding; actually its just chicken cutlet with fries) for just £4.80.  My lasagne cost less than £4.  A good pit stop after a hectic morning and a great way to enjoy UK holidays with great food and sights.

Next stop: Natural History Museum.

Cool, I didn’t even know that was a real place. I thought it was just a back drop that they made for the movie. Leadenhall Market, Ill have to make it there if I make a trip to London.
