Krumlov House – Interesting Experience Sleeping in an Attic Room
11 August, 2009Cesky Krumlov – Krumlov House
The Krumlov House is a small and cosy hostel located just outside the hustle and bustle of Cesky Krumlov town centre. It is also near the bus station where buses depart/arrive from different parts of Czech Republic e.g. Prague. If you have luggage, do factor extra time to walk towards the bus station as part of the route include a steep uphill climb.
The 4 of us occupied the 2 rooms in the attic of this hostel. The rooms are very spacious and could accommodate up to 4 persons. We shared a toilet with very low ceilings (due to the roof structure) and showers are only available at the ground floor. There was a shower curfew (guest are entitled to only 15 minutes shower time) which was not really strictly enforced. 🙂
While small in size, the facilities of Krumlov House are adequate e.g. they can do up your laundry for 200 CZK / 5 kg load. There is also a well-stocked kitchen with free coffee and tea. What we like best was the free Wi-Fi available throughout the house.

The unique design of the hostel is evident from the heavy wooden “Dragon” door (see picture above) that greets you when you check-in and the wooden key holders. Caroline’s bed looked like a traditional Chinese/Peranakan mix wedding bed. 🙂
We rate the Krumlov House:
- Location (10-min walk to town centre and bus station): 4.5/5
- Facilities (free Wi-Fi, unique attic sleeping experience): 4.5/5
- Staff (very helpful): 4.5/5
- Cleanliness: 4/5
- Value (only 375CZK/pax/night): 4.5/5
More information can be found on Krumlov House website.
