21 February, 2011

From bottle cap tripods, iPod covers with built-in bottle openers, to portable mesh hammocks and survival kits in a can, the list of quirky travel gadgets available today is endless.  Here’s our pick of just some of the most bizarre toys on offer for the traveller who always wants a conversation starter.

  • Dissolving travel toiletries
    • Mini containers of soap, shampoo and body wash in single-serve containers. Just add a little water to the mini dissolvable sheets, and you’ll be on your way to smelling clean, fresh and less like those stale-smelling hostel blankets.

Travel Luggage

  • Suitcase stickers
    • Giant stickers you can put on your suitcase to make it look like you’re stashing adult toys, illicit substances, or an airline hostess hostage? They may land you in a bit of trouble, but they look so realistic, we couldn’t help but look twice!

  • ScotteVest iPad Compatible Travel Vest
    • Just because you got some super cheap airfares for your trip doesn’t mean you can afford to lose one of your most prized possessions. Don’t worry about your iPad going missing or getting damaged in your suitcase or carry-on luggage. There’s a vest that contains a large interior pocket which is the perfect size for stashing your iPad. Just don’t fall asleep while wearing it..

  • Padlock Lighter
    • A suitcase padlock and lighter in one – perfect if your lighter tends to get confiscated at airports. There’s no chance of accidental light-ups either, as you need the code to operate the lighter.
