Tips for Exploring London in a Stress-Free Way18 February, 2018
This is part 1 of a 3-part series on travelling in London, held in collaboration with different hotels in London.
London is one of the most visited cities in Europe for both business and tourists. With stellar hotel deals at accommodation like the Grand Royale London Hyde Park Hotel, it’s hard not to be tempted to taker a trip to the capital. It’s the same with everyone however, with London reaching bursting point in the holiday season. With many people wanting a slice of the city, it’s easy to see how the trip can become stressful; all those crowds, queues and congestion can really take a toll on a tourist. That’s why it’s wise to plan your trip. It’s easier said than done, but can become easier if you follow a few of the tips below.
Book accommodation in advance and think to scale
Whilst an upscale hotel may look alluring, is it in your price range? Will a family feel at home in a youth hostel? Think about who you’re booking your holiday or business trip for and then find the right accommodation to suit your party.
Eat well for less
London is home to a wealth of cheap yet delicious street food markets. These famous markets embrace a wide range of cultures and could be the answer to those pricey Michelin star restaurants you’ve been looking for. Whatever you’re tastes, you’ll be able to find something to suit in the city. Restaurants may seem tempting, but if the weathers good why not settle for a picnic in the park or a snack on the Southbank?
Make a checklist
Are you here for art, entertainment or a boozy weekend? Whatever your aim for your visit to the city, be sure to plan around it. Organise a primary itinerary, making it easier to plan what you’re going to be doing. Once you’ve done this you can create secondary objectives which will be easier to complete if you’ve organised the primary. More planning beforehand means little on the day, leading to less faff and more fun!
Hotel booking direct
One of the best things about booking your accommodation online and directly with the company is that it means you can amend your orders and take advantage of exclusive. Only through booking online with your hotel company will you be able to get bumped up to a better room and find great discounts. Many hotels have their own apps for these purposes, such as the Montcalm hotel booking app London. These give you the opportunity to book on the go from your phone, making it easier than ever to pre-plan your holiday accommodation.
Apps for a happy trip
Apps help not only for hotel booking, but for finding citywide discounts. Whether it’s Drinkis and its wide array of bar discounts, or OpenTable and its great dinner discounts at some of the top restaurants in the city, you’re never far from a bargain when you have your smart phone nearby.
Brush up on London culture
London, like any other major city, has its own etiquette and unspoken rules. Talk to a Londoner you know or do some research to make sure you comprehend what you’re getting yourself into, the UK capital can be quite a ride!
