Phoenix, Arizona is a unique spot to visit. It is one of the cleanest cities in the country and is a smaller area, so it has its own local flair with fresh dining options, boutique hotels and shopping, and beautiful outdoor recreational areas and golf courses. It is a great vacation destination, with warm temperatures and plenty of activities for families, couples, or groups of friends looking for a relaxing spot.

Sights to See

Outdoor activities are prevalent in Phoenix, including hiking, biking, and tours through The Desert Botanical Garden. Guests take in the beautiful sights, surrounded by diverse desert plant life and wildlife. A great place to become one with nature is Deer Valley. There are quite a few conservations and nature preservers surrounding this area, such as the Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve. It’s a beautiful area to stay a few nights and explore the neighborhood.

The largest municipal park in the country, South Mountain Park and Preserve, is in Phoenix as well. Take a walk through Mystery Castle and learn more about the unique local architect, Boyce Luther Gulley. His landmark mansion houses 18 rooms and 13 fireplaces, with rusty shovels, colorful glass, and railroad tracks used as decorative accents. For all activities, guests should plan ahead and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Golfing and Pampering

Many couples enjoy taking trips to Phoenix and indulging in the spa and golf packages offered through many of the hotels. With more than 50 golf courses to choose from, ranging from championship to amateur, there are options for golfers of all skill levels. Some of the courses also offer golf lessons for those who are just learning the game, and Phoenix is a beautiful place to learn while surrounded by beautiful desert landscapes. After a day on the course, stop in at one of the world-famous spas, where technicians use local plants and clay to provide complete relaxation.

Comfortable Hotel Rooms

Arizona Biltmore is a famous hotel in Phoenix where Marilyn Monroe enjoyed staying during her trips to the area. There are hotels located on the mountainsides, such as the Camelback Inn and Phoenician, which are great options for those seeking a naturally beautiful experience. Modern hotels include the W Hotel, Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, and Hermosa Inn. For a truly old-world feel, stay at Hotel Valley Ho, a favorite of Humphrey Bogart, which features modern touches coupled with retro charm. Most hotels in Phoenix have refreshing swimming pools and other essential amenities.

Shopping and Dining

Scottsdale Fashion Square is one of the top shopping destinations near Phoenix, with designer stores including Caroline Herrera and Jimmy Choo, as well as luxurious department stores. For shoppers on a budget, the Phoenix Premium Outlets house luxury factory outlet stores. Outdoor shopping is also popular at Kierland Commons and Biltmore Fashion Park since the weather is warm and pleasant year-round. Many of these shopping areas have local restaurants nearby, so enjoy southwestern food or fresh, local produce after shopping. A famous Phoenix eatery, El Chorro Lodge, has a long history that complements the historic feel.

Phoenix is always a great spot to enjoy time away from work, school, and other responsibilities. Relax next to the pool with a cool drink or indulge in a relaxing spa treatment and enjoy the breathtaking scenery that surrounds this thriving city.
