Unusual Hotels: Sleeping in a Jumbo 747 Jet

2 August, 2009

I will be sharing with you an unusual hotel architecture from Sweden.

Sweden’s Jumbo Hostel

We all had our fair share of experiences trying to catch a nap in airports and airplanes amid all the noise and uncomfortable seats.  Staying in the Jumbo Hostel combines the experiences of sleeping in airport and an airplane without all the discomfort associated with it and all the luxury of a First Business Class cabin without breaking your bank account!

The most expensive room – the cockpit suite (see picture below).  This suite has a panorama view with two adjustable beds and sleeps up to two adults. The room is also equipped with TV, wireless internet free of charge and toilet with shower.  Price: 3300 SEK (S$800+) per night (breakfast included)

Wow, never seen this before – did you actually stay in the jumbo? If so, how comfortable was it. How do they make the breakfast!!

@Nicola, Nope i didnt stay here. It was just one of the unusual hotels i came across on the web. Since the plane is not meant to fly again, I would guess that they had installed a kitchen to prepare breakfast 🙂

Hi there I must admit that I found Sweden totally boring. Swedes are only really sociable when they are drunk. Swedish language teachers, especially the females are to be avoided at all costs. They make you most hated Prim Miss perfect seem like a kinky she devil who likes spanking and S&M.
    In other words avoid Sweden.

@Sean, I have to disagree with you, i stayed in Sweden for 6 months during my school exchange few years back – while they looked cold on the outside, you just have to get to know them better – they are actually quite friendly.

@sean – ha ha – your comment made me laugh out loud.. but I would have to agree with Zhiqiang. Swedes are lovely people, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with the few as well as travelling to Japan with three of my Swedish friends a few months ago.

I’ve yet to do Copenhagen and Stockholm, but they are right at the top of my list.

Love the Jumbo hotel… absolutely superb!

I can’ imagine that any beds in anything other than a bed room or hotel room would be that comfortable. Prove me wrong.

Seems like fun, but kinda pricey! When it’s about sleeping in a plane I would prefer the Costa Verde in Costa Rica anytime. The view is phenomenal!
